Damselfly embrace Posted on May 27, 2013 by Rachael Finally, some Summer weather. The damselflies made the most of it – there were several pairs of these red damselflies mating in my garden yesterday. Share this:TwitterFacebookMorePinterestLike this:Like Loading... Related
How intriguing…. they form an upside down heart! No summer weather for us today. It’s dark and wet and dreary.
It’s back to grey and wet and dreary here too now.
. . . and look! . . . they made an upside-down heart.
Beat me by a couple of seconds!
Yes, the heart is a lovely feature of these insects’ mating ritual.
I also noticed the heart but since it has already been mentioned, I’ll just say I love your photo 🙂
Thanks! Glad you liked it. I am very grateful to the unknown person in our neighbourhood who must have installed a wildlife pond a couple of years ago as we now see these damsels in our garden often.
Great photograph. They are colour coordinating with a red leaf and the green background. How very cooperative of them!
Yes, they were very kind to pose so nicely for me.
We each celebrate Summer in our own way. Great shot!
Now that’s what I’m talking about. That heart-shape is too fitting. I’m going backward, since I’ve obviously been away.
