I was rummaging around in an old hard drive today and came across this forgotten image from 2009. It reminded me that I have been promising myself a return trip to the American Southwest for a long time. Monument Valley and a full moon; a magical experience. I didn’t really know what I was doing with the camera back then; I’d love to have another go now.
I think that so often as I look back at photos of experiences and travels — oh, if only I could go back and capture it now! What would my eye see differently through the lens of a (better) camera.
Me to! I think it’s not so much the better camera, though that is a relevant difference. But even if I only took the same camera, I think I would do it better now.
I snapped a bunch of okay pictures in the Grand Canyon back in 1997. I soooo want to go back now that I know more about a camera! Hope you get your trip back here, though that capture has it’s own ambiance. You know we’d love to see what you can do with those famous sunsets with newer technology and a more seasoned eye. Cheers, Rachael! Hoping you’re well.
Thanks, Shannon. Struggling as ever to make time to keep up with the community here on WordPress. But busy is good, mostly.
I know what you mean. And I only keep up with about 10 regular followers! Makes me think twice about “opening up” my blog to searches. Quite comfy with my 100 some-odd audience, so I can focus on the more important things.
PS – got a new lens in the mail. Buying a Canon 70D body, hopefully today. Something (finally) for those flitty never-cooperating birdies!
I think we all would love to see you come back and do it again!
I hope I would do a much better job! 😉
Not much doubt in my mind that you would. That’s one of the same places I’d like to get a second chance at, but I seem to be running out of steam these days. 😦
Stunning! It takes me back – I too would love to re-visit with my camera! Thanks for posting.
Thanks. Yes, hopefully I will get back there one day. With more experience, I would do it very differently.
