Woke up one morning half asleep
With all my blankets in a heap
And yellow roses scattered all around
The time was still approaching
For I couldn’t stand it anymore
Some marigolds upon my eiderdownI’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain making the garden grow
I’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain keeping me goodSo I lay upon my side
With all the windows open wide
Couldn’t pressurize my head from speaking
Hoping not to make a sound
I pushed my bed into the ground
In time to catch the sight that I was seekingI’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain making the garden grow
I’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain keeping me goodIf this perfect pleasure has to be
Then this is paradise to me
If my pillow’s getting wet
I can’t see that it matters much to me
I heard the flowers in the trees
Make conversation with the trees
Relieved to leave reality behind me
With my commitments in a mess
My sleep is not a way of rest
In a world of fantasy you’ll find meI’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain making the garden grow
I’m just sitting watching flowers in the rain
Feel the power of the rain keeping me goodWatching flowers in the rain
Flower in the rain
Power flowers in the rain
Flower power in the rain
Roy Wood Flowers In The Rain (1967)
What a lovely poem! π
It’s the lyrics from a song. I’ve added a You Tube link now to make that clearer.

Beautiful shot, Rachael. The colours, the light, the fragility…
Thanks, Mike. I am glad you like it.
Love the photo, Rachael. The lighting is excellent. And the bokeh created by the illuminated water drops is awesome.
Thank you, Gracie. I love my garden in the rain, which is probably just as well given how much rain we’ve had this year!
Amazing photo – I love it! π
Thank you! π
Thank you, I love it.
Thanks, Gary. Glad you do π
Beautiful words and image.
Thank you. The words are not my own, just a song I remember from long ago (showing my age!)
That’s what age is for!:)
Sooo soooo beautiful. The lighting on the flowers are stunning! It actually makes me want to swim in that water! β₯
Thanks. It’s rather too shallow for swimming though, I’m afraid π
It just looks so pure…maybe Ill just drink from it instead π
What a fascinating poem to go with your lovely image!
It’s a bit odd really, a song from the psychedelic sixties. The title fits better than the words. π
I love “sparkly sun” in the background of a shallow depth of field macro. You do this brilliantly – I’ve seen many on your posts! Lovely. Again.
“Power flowers” and “flower power” is so very 60’s! We had a nice rain yesterday too, only I enjoyed after dark on the back porch swing. It was followed by heat (and muggy) today.
Thanks, Shannon. Sparkly background sun is a lot of fun. π
Ahhhh this makes me smile.. both words and photo
